I work from 10 AM to 7 PM, so I take my lunch at around 1:30 PM. I always look forward to lunch time because that is the only time I get to talk and bond with my fellow QAs. We share food, stories and laughter.
One of my officemates live near the office, so if he must, he goes home for lunch. He comes back after an hour, sometimes less. He's one of my kindest gay friend. He lives with his boyfriend of, I don't know, 5 or so years. He admitted to us before that he loves his boyfriend so much. And just this past Valentine's Day, the boyfriend even did something thoughtful for him.
However, just this afternoon, I saw my friend hunched over in his seat. My other officemate, who was sitting closest to him, asked what was bothering him. They had a little talk, and I could see his eyes were red. It was apparent that something was wrong. Since we didn't know what happened yet, we thought that he just had a minor lover's spat when he went home.
We were wrong. He purposefully went home today since it was their Monthsary. He slowly crept inside to surprise his boyfriend, but it was him who was surprised. It turned out that his boyfriend has a secret love affair. He has a separate Yahoo account, Friendster account and had been chatting with Bisexuals.
When the boyfriend saw that my friend was there, he immediately closed the chat screen, which my friend already saw. My friend asked to see because he wanted to find out. He said he wished he didn't go home today. He got so hurt of what he found out. He actually punched the boyfriend, leaving my friend with bruises on his fists.
He emailed me... "Bakit ganito ang buhay? Huhuhuhu..." I felt so bad for him. It must have been hard to love someone so much that when you find out he doesn't want you anymore, you feel worthless, even unattractive.
We tell him, as friends, that the boyfriend does not deserve him. He's too kind and we assure him that there are other people who deserve him.
